I am so glad I attended!   It was a great event and I will plan to be there next year too.

Our RE/MAX office has purchased admission tickets.  And when I got there I was so surprised at the beautiful set up at Trinity United Methodist Church.

The silent auction was arranged with beautiful pieces, gift baskets, and celebrity-signed items.  I even managed to get two beautiful pieces in the silent auction!

The speakers were great, and it made me realize that our local Bread of the Mighty Program is something that needs our local community attention and participation.  The emcee of the event was our local Storm Roberts, and something he said made everyone laugh….but it really hit home.  He said that this was the “only luncheon in Gainesville that would only serve soup.”   So, if we leave the lunch event feeling hungry….all the better for the cause.  Our lunch was delicious home-made, hearty chicken soup by Chick-fil-A and bread.  And who served the soup?   The directors of Bread of the Mighty!

It hit home.  It makes us think.  There are so many “hungry” people in our own community.  And that needs to get solved locally by the community members.  It’s not just hungry kids.   It can be senior citizens on fixed incomes, that make a decision to buy medicine or groceries.   So, for me….it’s not just a holiday food drive event anymore.   I want to be thinking about this all year long.

All that attended could select their own “empty bowl”.  Each and every bowl had been crafted by local school kids in the Gainesville area.   There were so many items to purchase via Silent Auction, Live Auction, and price tags.   All funds will go directly to Bread of the Mighty.   You just might want to add Bread of the Mighty to your list of charities.  I hope today was a great fundraiser for this organization.   Each and every dollar helps.

This chart below shows you the number of CLOSED SALES for the last 3 months – January, February and March 2013.   Also the relationship of days on the average market (DOM) , and the current PENDING SALES.

This chart below provides a graph as the number of ACTIVE LISTINGS in the Gainesville Florida Multiple Listing Service for this same three month period.  The month of March 2013 shows the total active listings have increased this month.   Pending Sales show an increase for the month of March.  The (DOM) Days on the Market has also decreased in March, and this is a good thing.  You will see another good sign that the closed sales are UP for the month of March also.

The single family homes active inventory is has increased and closed sales are up as well.   We now have the ability in our MLS system to see the different Single Family Home categories:  Homes, Farms & Ranches, and Mobile Homes with land.   These reports show the total of all sub categories.  Another good indicator of market stabilization is that the number of homes sales are steady. There is also an increase in “multiple offers” on homes that are priced great and show well.

Indicators are showing an increase of buyers actively viewing homes.  Home buyers know that the mortgage interest rates are appealing.  The “activity” is from the use of electronic lock box entry providing higher number of showings on the active listings for sale.    There also This data & inventory amounts covers all areas & communities in Alachua County as per the Gainesville-Alachua County MLS.

This first chart below shows the total number of active listings in the MLS and how that compares to the number of pending sales, and the closed sales for each month.   You will see that our inventory of active listings has inched up a bit for the month of  March.  The number of closed sales is down for March.  Pending sales have are a bit lower for March as well.    The Gainesville Condo Market is ripe for investor buyers.  The current inventory is ready for investors considering the Gainesville condominium market.

This next chart shows the average days on the market for the Gainesville Condominium market and that numbers relationship to Closed Sales and Pending Sales.  Our March activity shows that the “Days on the Market” statistic has sharply decrease to 132 days.  Our area has a strong inventory for condos & town homes at very competitive prices.   Investors should consider the condominium market in Gainesville FL!

This is Gainesville’s premier horticultural event.  And the theme for this year’s festival is “Passalong Plants,” representing the staple plants that are passed along from generations and between friends.

The Spring Garden Festival features about 200 booths offering plants, landscape displays, garden accessories, arts and crafts, educational exhibits and, of course, foods. And don’t miss the walk-through butterfly conservatory, children’s activities area, live entertainment and live auctions.

The children’s area is free with regular admission price. The children’s area will include a bounce house, face painting, arts and crafts, cookie walk, photo opportunities and a special guest appearance of the Chick-Fil A cow. The children’s area will continue the theme of “Passalong Plants” in our potted plant area. Children will plant a flowering plant complimentary of Hatchett Creek Nursery and Kanapaha will provide a sensitivity plant for each child to take home.

Admission is $8 for Adults and $5 for children (age 2-13). ***Cash only (no credit cards) at these events.

A $2 discount is given for members of Kanapaha.
