I want to share a Fun Filled Friday!!
Another Active Rain member, Jack Patton, made arrangements for our RE/MAX office to take part in the CAREER DAY at Trenton Elementary School in Gilchrist County, FL. Jack made an agreement with Florida’s official RE/MAX Hot Air Balloon Pilot, Richard Davenport to meet us all there at the school. We love doing the balloon events at the schools!
The entire student body, administration and teachers of Trenton Elementary had a fun Career Day watching how the “Real RE/MAX Balloon” is assembled and is operated. Then they got to ride UP…..and DOWN.
As an experienced “balloon ground-crew member”….it is exhausting work and I am pooped out……. BUT, it is SO MUCH FUN !!
It’s great to participate in a local school or community event.
Everyone is amazed at how BIG it is, and how LOUD it is when the burners are on, and then how quiet is it floating down to the ground.
There is nothing more exciting than to see hundreds of smiling, screaming kids that are amazed at the balloon….not to mention the scared teachers that climb into the basket for rides! It was great hearing a little boy, who was very proud to be in the 3rd Grade say “wait till I tell my dad about this”. It was a BIG HIT !!
There were other “exhibitors” at Career Day. Another big hit was the big helicopter of the Florida Game Commission that flew around the school over and over and landed for the kids to inspect. These are events that kids never forget! The kids have so many questions about the balloon, and Richard Davenport was great in explaining the “science” and mechanics of how the balloon works.
If you are a RE/MAX agent and have never seen our “real” hot air balloons, you have to see one. There is only ONE here in Florida, but RE/MAX has over 120 of them around the USA & Canada. It’s a great way to “give back” to your community.
Here in Florida, you can make arrangements for the hot air balloon to help raise funds for any Civic group. You might want to do this for you kids PTA Fund-Raiser Carnivals, or Church Fund raisers.
I have lost track of how many times we have had the balloon here in the Gainesville area. Every time it’s here, it still amazes me. I love being a “ground crew” member.
It’s a great way to spend your day!
