What is a QR Code? And What it Means….

February 9, 2011 by Chris Bohn

Have you wondered what a QR Code is? I do my best to keep up with the latest technology and have “seen” QR codes. But, finally I did some research and understand what they are and why the exist.

The main reason for a QR code? Instant information for smartphone users that have a QR reader application. The best way to explain them is they are “informational data” codes. Similar to UPC codes on all the groceries we buy. If a consumer sees a QR code, they click their code reader on their smartphone, and it will immediately access a web site that provides info on the “product or service” via internet access.

So….I had to get myself some QR Codes.

This code is for the home page of my web site:

This code is for my “Listings Tab on My Web Site”:
What is a QR Code

There is a Google feature that will allow you to enter a normal URL, provide a short URL and a it will generate QR code.  All you have to do is copy/save the code.  Then that code can be put “anywhere”.  Post it to flyers, put it on your business cards, your signs…..lots of options.  All to make smartphone users very happy!

When you think about it…..just about anything (or web address) can have a QR code!   I can generate a QR code for every home I have for sale!

Guess I need to get busy 🙂 I want to give all my clients the best info F-A-S-T, and this is a new real estate marketing tool in my big tool box!
