No Shopping on Thanksgiving

November 28, 2013 by Chris Bohn

No Shopping on Thanksgiving!   Yes, I am getting up on my soap box.  And now the media has coined it as “Brown Thursday”.  My turkey is in the oven and the house smells great!   My son and his friends will be here soon and it will be a day of relaxation, good food, good company, and football!    And no shopping!

No Shopping on ThanksgivingDon’t get me wrong, I am all for capitalism, and I understand that the big retailers make their big money during the Holiday Season, but come on…….I don’t see any reason that ANY store should be open on Thanksgiving Day.

Do the retailers really need those extra dollars?

Is this a greed factor?

Do those retailers expect their employees to work that day or all night long?

It’s just WRONG!!

Thanksgiving Day is for giving THANKS, not shopping for MORE.

I’ve never been a Black Friday shopper, and have no problem with the Black Friday rush, or the weekend shoppers, and the Cyber Monday….but I see no reason for ANY store opening it’s doors on Thanksgiving DAY.

So, I am taking notice of which stores are opening their doors on Thanksgiving Day.   I won’t spend my hard earned money in a store that doesn’t feel that Thanksgiving is a day to be CLOSED.  The only “brown” on my Thanksgiving Thursday will be gravy on the mashed potatoes.

What say you?

Happy Thanksgiving to You and Your Family
