Tis the Season to Donate
Today while watching football and browsing my Facebook feed, I came across an article called ‘Tis Better to Donate Than Accumulate by Joshua Becker. It really struck a chord with me and I wanted to offer up a suggestion to all for the Holiday season. I honestly do not need anything for Christmas. I don’t need to rush out and “buy” anything at all. Being content breeds gratitude and happiness.
I fully admit to being a bit of an accumulator. I’m not a hoarder, but I do have trouble throwing things away. So I need to change my brain. I need to go through stuff with the idea of DONATION. There are so many places to GIVE & DONATE in GAINESVILLE. Donating is a win-win situation.
Do I really need all those old board games in the closet?
Do I really need 8 blankets in the linen closet?
Do I really need to keep shoes & clothes that I will never wear again?
Do I really need to keep all those little-boy toys, since my son is now 21?
I think it’s time for me to do some sorting and donating. I think I will swing by a store and get some cardboard boxes and start my holiday mission to donate. I will break my cycle of accumulation. Sitting here writing this post, I know where to take full boxes of things to help others here in Gainesville.
Thanks Joshua for this article!
